Judy Wiesen runs our California office in beautiful Marin County. She has been advising families on summer programs for 20 years. As a young person, she went to overnight camp in her native New York for 4 years, and then to an arts and music camp for the following 3 years. She made lifelong friends at these camps and had experiences she never would have at home.
As a mom, Judy sent her three boys to camps in California, academic programs, bike trips, wilderness travel and performing arts camps around the country. These programs helped form her sons’ personalities as adults.
Helping families find great summer experiences is just half of Judy's work. She was an elementary school and piano teacher when her children were young, and now she is the musical director for a large youth theater program and plays piano for shows at schools across Marin County. This expertise tends to attract a lot of artistic kids and teens to our California office, and Judy places students in many arts programs around the country each summer.
Bia Bitelman has been working as a referral advisor for 17 years. The only representative in São Paulo, Brazil, it has been a long way since the introduction of summer programs to Brazilian families. The differences in language, culture, school calendar, the distance, the independent trip, all seemed too difficult, but little by little and with the successful feed back from campers, we can say that there is a true market in Brazil now.
Families found out that their kids gained fluency and learned English as never before. They also gained independence and responsibility, becoming more mature and more able to handle new situations, new environment, new friends and new challenges. And that is on top of all the wonderful activities, sports, trips and courses offered by the programs.
Following up what the clients wanted, she started representing language schools all over the world, for those older than 16 years old as well, so now she has a broader range of programs to offer.
Janice Millman believes very strongly in the merits of a successful summer experience. She can go on and on and on about it. Her own years in camping had a profound effect on her own life. She was able to be whomever she wanted to be in camp and then carry that confidence to her school life. Her own children spent many years living by the motto "we live 10 months for two"! They also participated in many teen programs.
Janice has been advising children and families for over 20 years. Her goal as the camp lady is to find the best fit for each child and family. Through summer travel, follow-up evaluations from participants and contact with directors, she has been able to achieve that goal.
Enid Grabiner, better known as "the camplady in Northbrook" has been advising families for the last twenty-five years. It has been her pleasure meeting with children and parents alike, opening up the world of traditional camping and the world of available programs beyond.Having placed her own three children in a myriad of programs, she understands from the parent's view concerns they may have. She also sees the positive results from her children having attended enriching experiences as camps, teen tours, specialty programs, adventure trips, pre-college enrichment and community service.
Meeting personally with families in the Chicagoland area allows her to personalize the needs of each child and provide each family with options for a perfect summer.
